Indian education has a proliferation of grading scales that makes cross-institution comparison non-trivial. CBSE Class 10 uses CGPA out of 10 with a 9.5 multiplier to get indicative percentage. ICSE uses straight percentage. State Boards use percentage with state-specific best-of-N aggregation. Engineering universities follow a mix — Anna University, VTU, JNTU use 10-point scale with different credit-weighting rules; IITs use a 10-point scale with weighted credit GPA; BITS Pilani uses a 10-point scale; NITs follow a 10-point semester GPA.
